to school girls in Malawi
Hey Sou Sou are so proud to have partnered with Kuwala Christian Girls School in Malawi, Africa. Kuwala is 100% volunteer run and we are so excited to be involved.
Through this partnership, we will be donating school shoes to students at Kuwala. Through every purchase you make online, we will match your pair with a pair for our young girls. So, you can look good, do good and feel good by providing someone in need with essential items as they achieve their education.
Malawi is one of the world’s poorest nations. 50% live below the poverty line and 48% of the population is under age 14. Many are subsistence farmers who are now heavily impacted by global warming. Because of this, Kuwala believes that to provide long term impact, education will be key. Educating a girl will positively impact herself, her family and her village. It will equip her to have future unavailable without education
Girls in Malawi suffer disproportionally. Young girls face poverty, gender bias, child marriage and starvation. A sad reality is that when girls attend school, they typically delay marriage and children by several years. Kuwala strongly believes that by having the girls stay on campus, they are provided with more choices and this ultimately empowers them to break the cycle of poverty.
It gets better...the shoes we will be donating, will be sourced from a local leather manufacturer in Malawi called Trogon Trading which means you are also helping out the local economy.
